Gambit matchmaking, summit, DC cosmetics drop rate change date. Cozmo Do any of them individually or as a group represent the entire Destiny community?
That’s twice the amount of people playing Strikes, Nightfall, Raids, or Gambit. For comparison, if we look back at July of , the PVP population was k, less than half of what it is today. So while there was an increase, it should also be considered that this is a new season where everybody is trying to hit the new max power level. Especially now that skill-based matchmaking has been turned off. For most events in Destiny 2, I like to play solo. But as a competitive player with a paltry 0.
The balance definitely felt off in solo play thanks to the abandonment of skill-based matchmaking, with no new system to replace the old flawed one. Still, Iron Banner keeps you constantly working toward a goal by rewarding you with a Pinnacle drop simply for playing, win or lose. This is a mode for the top echelon of players in which they claim a card that tracks wins and losses before fighting in 3v3 battles in the hopes of getting a string of seven consecutive victories. Cheaters and shady businesses aside, the main problem that gets in the way of my enjoyment are those near-professional-level players being mixed in with the general population and slaughtering everybody with impunity.
It is exhausting to be having a series of great and close games only to be crushed in a 5 – 0 game where you’re clearly outmatched, or faced against straight-up cheaters who are under-leveled but still hitting every sniper headshot. Currently, even high-level players like Aztecross are choosing to hop in on Fridays because the pool is bigger and you have a chance when the odds are stacked against you. The argument against matchmaking of this type in Destiny 2 was made irrelevant, in my opinion, given the tremendous success of the Freelance option.
Did Bungie Develop In-Game Matchmaking?

My takeaway [from this thread] is the milestone progression system makes you play content that you don’t enjoy and that you would rather have a path to power up where you can play the activities you want. Duplicate power drops in the same slot are frustrating and you would like us to implement some sort of duplicate protection. And the Enhancement core economy is making the power climb less fun because you can’t equip the gear that makes you look and play the way you want to.
I’ll continue to make these feedback items heard by the team. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. What Dylan said is true. Players who have large communities around them take feedback from a large number of players into consideration before they pass it along to us. Do any of them individually or as a group represent the entire Destiny community? Of course not. No one does. No one can.
The community is made up of a large amount of players who enjoy different things and have different opinions on what changes should be made.
Heres why theres no matchmaking in Destiny’s Raids
Bungie wants to make it easier to join and play with other people in Destiny 2. Previously, clans were a complicated affair, making you log on to Bungie. During a live event today, Bungie revealed that a revamped Clan and matchmaking system will exist in the game itself.
However, the studio has finally launched its Guided Games feature for raids and Nightfall strikes in Destiny 2 , which allows one or two solo players to match up with an organized clan group of four or five players. But players using the feature are having some problems, and those issues show that Bungie was right to be apprehensive about matchmaking for so long.
The Destiny population includes players with a range of skill, experience and dedication levels. That remains true even if you control for gear power levels. Many players cannot or will not learn to do everything a raid requires, or they lack the manual dexterity to execute some of the more demanding strategies.
Only about 16 percent of Destiny 2 players on PlayStation 4 have finished the raid. And that inexperience matters. Raids in Destiny and Destiny 2 contain complex encounters, with mechanics that have to be mastered through trial and error. Progress in a Destiny raid comes from each member of the group steadily improving their performance and mastering the necessary mechanics.
Even players who have done the raid a few times learn to adapt and communicate with their group a specific way, and it can take a while to learn how to do so with a new player. If your group suffers constant attrition, it is likely to disband without clearing that encounter.

This ostensibly makes it difficult for skilled players to “climb” up the matchmaking ranking and out of Elo hell , due to the difficulty of consistently winning games under these conditions. Its existence in various games has been debated, and some game developers have called it an illusion caused by cognitive bias. The term was coined based on the Elo rating system designed by Arpad Elo , which was initially used for chess games but began to be used in video games as well.
Destiny 2 Project Lead Mark Noseworthy talks to Game Rant about why matchmaking is not in the game and how Guided Games will are only for pre-made groups, namely Trials of Osiris, the Nightfall Strike, and the raid.

Why Raid matchmaking won’t kill the game
As a majority solo player, it makes things harder on me to complete a lot of things. Since The Tribute Hall, catching up on Annual Pass content, and Moments of Triumph have basically turned me into a Destiny 2 drone these days, I decided to give it a shot. I was shocked at how easy it was to use. Essentially, the Destiny 2 App taps into your Bungie. The biggest thing for me is under Fireteams, essentially a LFG listing that players can post for basically any activity in the game.
Light Mode Become a Guardian of the Light. An exclusion filter allows a flair to be hidden from your browsing experience. Happy birthday!! Happy birthday! Bungie Suggestion Solo survival matchmaking is bad, yes, but so is group matchmaking self. If bungie is planning to fix matchmaking, i think normal survival matchmaking should be fixed too. Just played 8 matches, with my friends being and , im , so what groups did we match against?
Maybe because only players like this right now play survival, but im not sure it can be that bad. I was 12 points away from legend and then lost 4 in a row. In all 4 games, my two teammates were below 1. I’m sitting at a 1. Idk what factors they use for matchmaking exactly but it’s shit :. Given your small sample size you are WELL within the margin of error.
Destiny 2 matchmaking not finding anyone
Although players have been requesting it since the early days of Destiny 1 , Bungie confirms that Destiny 2 will not support matchmaking in the traditional sense. There will be a new feature called Guided Games that is meant to bring players together for challenging activities, but randomly pairing players is something that Bungie feels does not work for its game. Noseworthy also shared some info about how Guided Games will support a variety of players with a variety of interests.
Teaming random players together very rarely ends well.
